Laurence Sydney Brodribb Irving. He had been born in Kensington, London, 21 December 1871 to John Henry, an actor born 1838 in Keinton Mandeville, Somerset, and Florence J. (nee O’Callahan) Irving, who had married 15 July 1869 in St. Marylebone, London. He was educated at Marlborough College and College Rollin in Paris and after that he was in Russia for three years, studying for the Foreign Office. He started his acting career in 1893. In 1901, he was living at Gilston Road in Kensington in London with his mother Florence F. (who had been born in India) Irving and three servants. He was listed as an actor at the time. He married Mabel Lucy Hackney in the second quarter of 1903 in Kensington, London. He was on an acting tour around the world together with his wife. In 1914, the Irving address was listed as 27 Gilston Road, Brompton, Middlesex, England. In his will, he left £937.13s.8d to Henry Brodribb Irving, ”actor manager.”
